Ruth’s main role at Nowgen is to develop and deliver training courses for health professionals from a variety of clinical settings, such as midwifery and primary care, and contributes to public engagement projects.
Ruth has a BSc in biotechnology and a PhD in biochemistry from King’s College, University of London. After completing her studies, she worked in pharmaceutical business publishing, further laboratory research, and as a research manager at the Department of Health. Following a period as a writer and editor at Nature Publishing Group, she re-trained as a genetic counsellor, completing an MSc in the subject at The University of Manchester. In parallel with the MSc course, Ruth worked as a genetic counsellor and research coordinator at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
