As Director, Helen Middleton-Price has overall responsibility for delivery of the Nowgen project, and leads on delivery of Professional Education.
She has worked in human genetics since 1985. Following a period of post-doctoral research at the Institute of Child Health (ICH), London, she transferred to the provision of genetics services and ran the Regional Clinical Molecular Genetics Laboratory at ICH/Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children (GOSH) from 1990. She gained her MRCPath in 1994 and was awarded FRCPath in 2003.
In 1996, she joined the Science Museum in London as Biomedical Science Adviser in Genetics for the Wellcome Wing exhibitions, opening in June 2000. Her role included identifying areas of contemporary genetics, including the human and social perspectives, for public exhibition, and ensuring the accuracy of the content.
Helen is Chairman’s Special Adviser in public awareness of genetics to the British Society for Human Genetics (BSHG), aiming to improve the links between the lay public and BSHG members
