Practical Biobanking

This two day intensive course is designed for both Biobank sponsors and researchers looking to
establish and maintain a biological sample resource. The emphasis of the course will be on the practical aspects of establishing and running a successful Biobank.
On the first day we will cover:
- Biobanking DNA and tissue
- Data accrual and sample tracking
- Laboratory Information Management Systems
- Design and optimisation of operating procedures
- Quality standards
Delegate dinner including after dinner keynote speaker and discussion: why ethics matter in biomedical science.
On the second day we will cover:
- Sample and process research for better Biobanking
- Access policies
- Developing national and international biobanking networks
- A trip to UK Biobank
- Sample and data accrual, shipping, storage and retrieval of samples at UK Biobank
We are seeking accreditation for the course from the Royal College of Pathologists.
