Laura Winters joined Nowgen in August 2010 as the Public Engagement and Education Assistant. This role involves working on a variety of projects with one of the main ones being the Looking Forward project; working with young people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to develop an educational arts package exploring CF and gene therapy. Laura is also involved with organising the Meet the Scientists Days for A-level Biology students, and the focus of these days is contemporary research in genetics and genomics.

Laura graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Biology with Industrial Experience, and she spent her industrial placement working for Pfizer in Kent, in their Academic Liaison team. After graduating, she worked for the British Science Association as Project Co-ordinator for the SHINE project, which established science clubs in disadvantaged primary schools across Greater Manchester.
