Working with 'Jeans for Genes' charity
Nowgen has worked closely with the ‘Jeans for Genes’ charity since 2009. We are collaborating to develop educational resources, which are available on the Genes Are Us website, which is run by the ‘Jeans for Genes’ charity.
The resources are designed for a spectrum of ages - primary pupils through to secondary - and they are free for teachers to download and use. The resources include:
- Short films made by children affected by different genetic conditions - telling their story
- Animation introducing genetic concepts
- Worksheets linked to the films (such as puzzles, discussion and comprehension activities)
- Activities to help pupils explore the themes raised by the films
Jeans for Genes
The ‘Jeans for Genes’ charity provides funding for the care and support of children with genetic disorders. They hold an annual fundraising day every October. They help to fund research into genetics and the development of effective treatments and cures. Each year they offer funding to a range of charities.
